One of the best things you can have in common with your partner is a love for traveling. It welcomes you to a world promising new and interesting experiences. That’s what Robbie and Priscilla share. They’re both travel enthusiasts with jobs that permit them both to work anywhere with Internet access.
“We were our happiest when traveling, when exploring new places, when trying new foods, when immersing ourselves in new cultures. We thrive off of experiencing new things and going on adventures.”
With those advantages laid out in front of them, the two decided to take it a step further.
Instead of booking flights left and right or going on long drives, they went for the unthinkable: they decided to turn an old school bus into their very own home.
It was back in 2017 when Robbie and Priscilla made the decision to buy an old school bus. Their dream meant a ton of hard work but they were more than eager to make it happen.
The couple shares,
“We love tiny homes and admire the lifestyle of those who live in them, so we thought, ‘Why not build one on wheels?'”
And so they did.
The process of renovating the bus to turn it into a cozy home wasn’t easy. It took a year and half, and more than their fair share of challenges.
“We were having leaking issues with the windows so we removed all of them, cleaned them, and reinstalled, resealed them. Turns out after all that work they continued to leak and we had to get all brand new windows which meant removing all these AGAIN and installing the new ones.”
But the couple’s hard work and patience finally paid off and they can now fully enjoy their new space.
You’ll definitely be impressed.
“This is the outside of our electrical closet. What you see going from left to right is the inverter pannel, solar charge controller, AC thermostat, water tank monitor and hot water heater controller.”
You’re probably wondering how one can move freely about in a vehicle that doesn’t promise much space. Well, with a lot of creativity and perseverance, the two managed to turn the small interior into a comfortable area equipped with the essentials.
They’ve got a cozy bedroom:
An aesthetically pleasing bathroom:
And a pretty kitchen with a slide out pantry.
“I love that everything is nicely displayed without things getting pushed to the back.”
It wasn’t just a passion for travel that inspired this project. Their cat, Mr. Beebles, played a significant role in bringing the idea to them.
Robbie and Priscilla don’t particularly like leaving their cat behind whenever they travel.
But thanks to their new home, they can now go places with their pet without worry. In true cat fashion, Mr. Beebles wasn’t particularly elated at first. Thankfully, he’s well-adjusted and has grown to appreciate different yet equally breathtaking views.
Offering more details on their experience, the two share,
“We left our home in Orlando, Florida, on March 21, 2019, and headed up the East Coast. We were on the road for almost 10 months and traveled all the way up to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. We visited 137 different cities on that trip without having an itinerary. We just went with the flow.”
The current COVID-19 situation may have put a damper on the couple’s travel plans but they choose to remain optimistic and are looking forward to exploring places around the U.S. and Canada again.
For now, they’re safely settled in their home, probably mapping out routes for their next trip.
