If you do not believe that dogs are man’s best friend, you will after this story. Danilo Alacron and his dog Digong are living proof that these tender animals will stop at nothing to help their owners.

Unfortunate Events

Alacron, a 46-year-old man of the Philippines, was involved in a motorcycle accident years ago that left him with a devastating spinal injury. Unfortunately, he will never be able to walk again.

He uses a wheelchair to get around. Since he has absolutely no feeling in his legs, there is no other option.

Becoming disabled is one of the most stressful things that can happen to a person. Often, depression, PTSD, and anxiety, among other things, are developed in addition to the physical disability.

Many doctors will recommend getting a support animal to help people cope. This was exactly what Alacron did.

Unique Bond

Digong is a seven-month-old puppy with a heart of gold and undying loyalty. Anyone who has any experience in wheelchairs knows how tired your arms can become from wheeling it. Apparently, Digong doesn’t need the experience to know it is no easy task.

Digong takes it upon himself to help Alacron get around the only way he can; by pushing his best friend’s wheelchair. This makes moving a whole lot easier and faster for Alacron, who is eternally grateful to his furry friend.

The Ripple Effect

His owner is not the only human who appreciates his good deeds.

Faith and Danjo Revilla, a couple that reside in Davao, were out and about running errands when they saw Alacron making his way through the city. As they got closer, they saw Digong pushing the wheel chair along using his nose.

“We felt blessed to have witnessed this extraordinary sight.” says Faith. “I mean, I thought it only happens in TV shows, but this was a very real scene.”

Faith was compelled to take a video of this touching scene. She desperately wanted to share it with the world.

Wanting to know more, they pulled their car over to talk to Alacron and his partner and offered to take them to lunch.

Inseparable

Over a delicious meal, Faith and Danjo learned about the special bond.

Alacron and Digong are always together and take care of each other like true friends.

Alacron could not say enough good things about his puppy. He described to the Revillas how Digong has been there for him since the beginning, not only physically, but emotionally as well.

Faith continued to speak about it on Facebook:

“He’s a caring puppy. The wheelchair pushing started when Digong saw Danilo stop and rest while maneuvering his wheelchair, and the dog just out of the blue started pushing his wheelchair using its head.”

They even have great communication. Alacron told Faith that when Digong is tired, he jumps up on his owner’s lap until he is ready to go again.

They also found out Digong was named after Pilipino president Rodrigo Duerto, who is also known as Digong.

Furry Hero

Digong has gotten lots of attention on social media and was even featured in People magazine. Humans everywhere are in awe over this touching video taken by Faith Devillo.

Faith also states on her Facebook page that her life was forever changed:

“I have no words to describe my emotions right now. May the good Lord bless them both. Dogs truly are man’s best friend. If we genuinely care, respect and love them, they will surely do the same for us, too.”

The Devillo’s and Alacron have stayed in touch.
