In this day and age, the effects of smoking are well-known. Despite this fact, a large number of people still continue to partake in the deadly deed.
When smokers smoke, they aren’t just hurting themselves. Still, many can have a self-entitled attitude to anyone who criticizes their beloved addiction. In this video, you see one of those selfish smokers get exactly what they deserve. The incident takes place in Sofia, Bulgaria, where a man pulls into a gas station to purchase some gas.
When the video begins the lot is empty; however, the smoker is the second car to pull up.
Dressed in a white T-shirt and sporting a black hat, the man gets out of his car while smoking a cigarette.
As the man looks over, he begins arguing with someone off-screen. Unfortunately, the video has no sound so we can’t hear what the people are saying.
According to media reports, the gas station attendant asked the man to put out his cigarette and the man blatantly refused.
You can tell the smoker is making a scene because the man pumping gas next to him starts to take note. At about 0:45 seconds through the video, the gas station attendant emerges from the right of the screen. You see him rush towards the pumps and grab a fire extinguisher off the wall.
Before you know it, the gas station blasts the smoker with his fire extinguisher, covering both the man and his car in thick, white foam.
The best—or worst, depending on how you look at it— part is that the driver left his car door open, and a few hidden passengers quickly emerge. As you can imagine, it takes a few seconds for the smoker to recover before gesturing angrily at the attendant. In response, the employee simply shrugs as if to say, “Well, I told you.”
Interestingly, researchers discovered that smoking a cigarette at a gas station isn’t that dangerous. The ember on the cigarette isn’t likely to ignite gas vapors— but the flame from a lighter can. “In other words, you would be much safer walking into a gas station with a lit cigarette, rather than lighting one once you’ve already walked through a few gasoline puddles,” ScienceABC explains.
Regardless of the science behind it, accidents do happen, however. In 2016, a man in Prunedale, Californa, had to be flown to a hospital when he was severely burned while allegedly smoking and pumping gas. When it comes to these kinds of dangerous things, I think we can all agree it’s best to be safer than sorry.
Since the video was uploaded online, people have been praising the attendant— and bashing the obnoxious smoker.
“I’m guessing he told the smoker to put it out and the guy did nothing. That employee deserves a raise! :D”
“Excuse me… I don’t mind if you blow yourself up but I do mind if you blow up my gas station and other customers so let me fix that cigarette for you. Thanks man, you’re the best!”
“He should have fun cleaning up his car and thinking about why he didn’t act responsibly. Anyway, good for the attendant. He deserves a promotion.”
“Brilliant!!!” The attendant acted bang on. He has a job to do and he did it. If the gas had ignited look at how many lives lost just on our vide. I hope he will get a raise and high praise for his quick actions.”
