If you are a parent, you understand the aching feeling that is separation anxiety. Once you have a child, they become your whole world. Everything you do is for them and so, of course, they are going to be included in everything that you do.
This young bride-to-be was gearing up for her wedding. But instead of wearing a veil, she decides to opt for something a little bit more… Meaningful.
She decides to wear her 2-year-old daughter.
Dalton Mort gave birth to her daughter when she was only 19-years-old.
Her daughter (named Ellora) has been by Dalton and her husband’s side ever since she was born. She went on their honeymoon with them and she was there for when they moved into their first official home together. Basically, they have been besties from the very start, and Ellora has been able to see every big moment for the couple.
When the time came for Dalton to plan her wedding, she knew that Ellora was going to play a big part in the event. She wanted her to. But she didn’t know what to do…
Dalton did not want to take the traditional road and make Ellora a flower girl.
So she thought of something completely out-of-the-box — and totally wonderful. She decided she would wear Ellora down the aisle with her. That way, she is truly involved and with her mother literally every step of the way.
Ellora replaced her mother’s wedding veil.
While it’s not considered traditional just yet, there is a name for what Dalton did: babywearing. It is exactly what it sounds like — when brides wear their babies — and more and more women are beginning to do it these days.
“I knew it would keep her calm on a very hectic day,” Dalton told InsideEdition.com. “Wearing her also allowed me to incorporate her in the ceremony in a way that was normal for both of us.”
Her baby girl spends a lot of time strapped to her body in every day life already, so it only made sense that it would comfort her on the big overstimulating day.
Dalton even exchanged vows with her husband as she was breastfeeding their daughter, who also managed to fall asleep about 20 minutes into the event. What, is watching your parents get married not exciting enough, Ellora?!
All jokes aside, the wedding was filled with so many heartwarming moments and luckily, a lot of them were captured. Even though Ellora fell asleep at one point, she managed to wake up for some sweet shots with her mother that the two will look back on fondly forever.
The photos are so adorable, they quickly went viral on the Internet. A true cuteness overload.
Even though Dalton believes Ellora had no idea what was going on, and even though she pulled and tugged at her hair through the ceremony, she and her husband wouldn’t have changed a thing.
“I am used to wearing her for extended amount of time,” she said. “I love wearing my daughter, so it just seemed normal for us.”
