A lot of families have loved ones who are serving in the military.

It’s hard for everyone, but kids seem to struggle with it the most. Nine-year-old Connor Dobbyn lives in South Carolina with his family. His brother Brad is training for the military and has been stationed in Florida for several months.

The family keeps in close contact with Brad, and they exchange letters and packages often.

Connor even receives special mail from his brother from time to time. One day, Connor got off the school bus to find that his mom was upset with him about something.

She said:

“Hey, why didn’t you tell me that Brad sent you something?”

Connor was a little confused.

He didn’t realize his brother had sent a package. As he walked up to the door, he became excited, wondering what his older brother could have sent him. He walked inside and saw a large cardboard box sitting on the floor with blue tape holding it together

He rushed over to it and started to open it. He couldn’t imagine what’s inside it. As he picked at the tape, he heard a noise inside the box. It startled him, and he jumped back. Then, the box burst open and out popped his brother Brad.

Connor couldn’t believe it.

The family was thrilled to see Brad had come home. Even the family dogs were excited and started wagging their tails when they saw him. Connor couldn’t wait to give his big brother a hug.

It’s clear that Connor and Brad share a very special bond. While Brad was back for a while, he and Connor could spend some time together.

Connor and Brad’s mom shared the video on Facebook, where it got a lot of attention. Media stations picked it up and shared it, as well.

Everyone finds their relationship and Connor’s surprise heartwarming. A lot of people commented on the video, including friends of the family.

Shelley Anne Wilson said:

“Awwwww this made me cry! Testing my waterproof mascara! Beautiful video”

Kevin Morey said:

“I’ve watched this three times and it still waters my eyes…good job Brad! Your da man.”

Their mom explained that Brad was only home for two weeks, so there will be other reunions in the future for the two brothers.

A lot of siblings fight and argue, and it’s safe to say that Brad and Connor have probably had their fair share of feuds. It looks like the old saying, “Absence makes the heart grow fonder,” isn’t only true for couples. It can be true for brothers, too.

Brad might have to come up with some pretty interesting ways to surprise Connor after this. A simple appearance may not cut it.

Then again, Connor seemed to be so happy to see his brother that he probably won’t care how he shows up as long as he does.

It won’t be easy on Connor if Brad has to go even further away. However, seeing how close they are proves that they will always find each other and be there for each other.

This family should definitely be proud of both of their sons. One is serving the country and the other is patiently waiting for him to get home so he can hug him. These are some great young men.
