When Gabby, Reagan, and Riley Cappello lost their mother, it left them orphaned and heartbroken.

The girls’ mother, Niki Newtown-Cappello, died unexpectedly due to internal hemorrhaging and a lung infection which forced her organs to shut down. She had been a dedicated and loving parent and always put the girls first. Her loss was devastating.

It came as a horrible shock to the entire family, but the girls had some rock-star godparents! They were taken in by their aunt and uncle in Mamaroneck New York one state over and moved from Danbury, Connecticut into their aunt and uncle’s 3-bedroom home.

Jon and Amy Stellwagen have a toddler of their own, so doubling the size of their house overnight was not an easy undertaking! But the couple were delighted to step up and care for the girls in every way they could.

Jon and Amy knew that the three bedrooms wouldn’t be sustainable for long, and they wanted to give the girls everything their mom would have dreamed for them.

The girls’ aunt from the other side of the family, Tethra, was also devastated by the loss and just wanted what’s best for the girls.

Well, George to the Rescue did what he does best – he came to the rescue!

George Oliphant is the face of the popular New York television series that does surprise renovations for families facing difficult times.

He heard about the Stellwagen’s unusual situation and wanted to lend his expertise to give the girls a space of their own, and a house the whole family could call home.

Jon, Amy, and their toddler Chase had all been living on just the first of their two-story home, leaving the entire upstairs apartment unfinished.

All in all, the second floor apartment was converted into four bedrooms with a much bigger bathroom (a good call if you have three growing girls living up there!).

And the first floor of the home remained in a similar layout to before the reno, including a kitchen, living space, and an added guest room for the girls’ aunt Tethra.

“I think Niki would have been so happy. Her purpose in life was to make sure her girls were happy, and I really think that she would have been proud.” – Tethra.

This big family can now share the space comfortably and build a beautiful future together! Everyone is absolutely overjoyed.

George to the Rescue fulfilled the girls’ wishes for a Paris themed roomed, and a room full if rainbows and unicorns. They absolutely love them!
