Most people who grew up in the 80s know Bonnie Tyler’s classic hit, “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” is one of the best and cheesiest songs of that time. It’s so popular that people don’t need to hear half of the song to know its title. Its opening line is enough to get people’s attention.

Eight teenage boys know how popular the song is.

That’s why they took the risk and used it for their beach ball performance at school. Yes, you got that right. Eight boys, a beach ball, and a Bonnie Tyler classic- those things are enough to get anyone excited.

Right after hearing the intro, the crowd was already giggling and chuckling to themselves. It’s like they knew right away that they were in for a treat.

When one of the boys turned around with a goofy look on his face, the audience lost it.

Holding a beach ball, the guy seemed like he was looking for someone. With “Lifeguard” written on the back of his shirt, most people would think he was looking for someone to save. Well, that’s not the case.

Another guy appeared on stage.

He positioned himself across the first guy. And with the ball between them, they performed synchronized movements. It’s quite hilarious since they looked like they were showing raw emotions for each other with a beach ball held close to their bodies.

The guys were very fluid with their movements.

And the most amusing part? They didn’t drop the ball even once. Each move was carefully calculated.

Soon after, 6 more teenage boys appeared on stage.

Just like the first two, they were wearing white shirts with the same print on the back. All of them were wearing beach shorts, too.

The eight boys almost did an excellent job performing with not just one but 7 beach balls.

Well, that was the case until one of them dropped his ball. It’s not clear if that was intentional or not but what happened made the audience even more excited about the performance.

Near the end of it, a man wearing a black shirt came on stage.

Compared with the rest of the boys, he was a bit older. However, that doesn’t mean that he’s not skilled with beach balls. In fact, he’s just as great as the kids. He was able to do the same routine without dropping the ball or missing a step.

The group’s performance was a part of Dallas Baptist University’s Mr. Big Chief.

It’s a competition where students get the chance to show off their skills in three different categories to win the title. Each contestant works hard to get that coveted title.

Total Eclipse of the Heart was a risky choice for the teenage boys.

Considered as one of the finest ballads, it’s not something people choose for a performance, particularly a hilarious one. Despite that, the boys were able to pull it off.

Even though their moves weren’t that complicated and there’s no heart-stopping routine, the audience still loved it. They have such great personalities that they were able to show them to the crowd without doing anything special. They just stayed true to themselves.
