Catherine Ritchie Was Going About Life As Normal
She was going through her nightly routine for getting ready for bed.
Then saw that her bed was on fire. Catherine has lived in the same house for fifty-eight years.
A Valiant Effort
This elderly woman did her best to extinguish the flames
She attempted to put out the fire by using pillows and blankets but soon become overwhelmed and disorientated.
A Smart Move
Catherine wore a life alert device around her neck, and she activated this hoping help would come to save her from a house fire.
A Desperate Attempt to Flee
Catherine knew she had to get out of the bedroom that had now become engulfed in flames.
As she struggled to find her way out, she was so disorientated that she kept walking into a closet, thinking it was the exit.
Four Oklahoma Teens Went Into Action
The four boys were just making plans to find something to do.
Then they noticed a smell in the air like rubber was burning. Next, they heard Catherine’s house alarm go off. They quickly tried to kick down the door to get inside.

Nick who is fourteen did manage to get in through the back door
He quickly enters the home and finds Catherine in the hallway, disorientated from the smoke.
Nick Picks Catherine Up
Nick quickly picked Catherine up although this feisty elderly lady insisted she could walk, but Nick wasn’t haven’t any part of that.
A Happy Ending
Catherine, as well as the boys, made it out safe and the firefighters were able to get the fire under control before it spread.
