Being in the middle of the autumn months doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate cool swimming pool tricks. That might be why this video, originally posted by Arttu Laitinen, has become such a fast viral sensation. Imagine being the camera man as you watch this wild pool trick for yourself.
The divers gather at a large pool for…
The video opens with a water side view of a tall and wide set of diving boards.
You can see several men gathered up with some stretching, others hopping from foot to foot, and still others just waiting for the stunt to come.
Eighteen small leaps…
Then with a shout, the men race forward. Then one by one they leap off their diving boards spinning and plummeeting to the water below.
But it’s just not one or two men per diving board, as you see the air filled with men twirling, spinning, and diving for the pool water below. As one YouTube comment said:
“Hallelujah, it’s raining men!”
The men spread out as much as they can for safety, but 18 bodies hitting the water at once wasn’t going to make a small little splash. In fact, it may have made the biggest splash ever seen at this pool in Helsinki, Finland.
Arttu’s stunt has caused a splash like you’ve never seen
Just watch how high the splash goes. It’s like the pool was a volcano spewing water high in the sky with frothy suds lashing out. The camera can just barely see past the spray to the daytime sky when the pillar of water reaches it’s peak.
But what comes up must come down. So the water comes crashing back down making a huge wave that spreads across the pool, even reaching the camera.
But don’t rewind that video because…
Arttu adds in a slow-mo replay at the end of the video. That way you can watch for yourself the diving tricks his friends do. Some flap their arms for belly flops while others curl into cannonballs to hit the water hard. Still others soar through the air before vanishing in the big splash.
It’s inspiring to see how high the water rises in slow motion. Just appreciating the timing of the stunt is worth watching this once again. Especially since you can notice how, after the splash dies down, the men pop back up out of the water. Each of the men are laughing, smiling, and cheering on their fun stunt trick.
Arttu is also known for…
